Apartments Novalja is a family-run house with eleven apartments and studios for 2 to 6 people, set in a quiet part of Stara Novalja on the island of Pag. The house has its own private access to the sea, and guests share a stone terrace with a barbecue.
Every unit has a kitchen or kitchenette, a fridge, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. Most apartments have a balcony or terrace, and many look out over the bay. We have been welcoming guests since 1987, and a good many of them come back year after year.

Pag is Croatia's fifth-largest island and has the longest coastline in the Adriatic. Its landscape, shaped by the bura wind and salt, is often compared to the surface of the moon — bare white karst on one side, pine woods and hidden coves on the other. Stara Novalja lies in the north of the island, five kilometres from Novalja.
Beyond the beaches, the island has an unexpectedly rich history and food culture. The Romans called it the golden island for its greenery; today it is known for Pag cheese, lamb, UNESCO-protected lace and salt that has been harvested here for centuries.
At the northern tip of the island grows the largest concentration of wild, thousand-year-old olive trees in the world. The oldest is estimated at around 1,600 years, and several hundred more at roughly a thousand. Marked paths lead through the grove down to the sea.
A Roman aqueduct from the 1st century, carved entirely out of solid rock and preserved for more than a kilometre. The entrance is inside the Town Museum in Novalja, where visitors can walk the first stretch of the tunnel.
The bay of Caska was once home to Cissa, the largest Roman settlement on the island, which local tradition says was lost to an earthquake. Excavations continue, and part of the site lies beneath the sea.
The island's best-known beach, a Blue Flag bay with summer festivals, is about eight kilometres away. Close enough for a night out, far enough that Stara Novalja stays quiet.
The house has its own access to the sea with a boat mooring, and the pebble and rocky beaches of the Stara Novalja bay run in both directions. The water here is calm and clear, so children can swim safely. The larger beaches with full facilities — Planjka, Babe and Zrće — are a few minutes' drive away.
The bay is sheltered from the waves and well suited to kayaking, paddleboarding and windsurfing, while the strong bura on the open side of the island draws more experienced sailors. Pag is also popular with cyclists and walkers: the climb to Sveti Vid, the island's highest peak, is rewarded with a view across the channel to the Velebit mountains.

Pag is linked to the mainland by a bridge in the south and a ferry in the north — for Stara Novalja, the ferry is the quicker route.
The Prizna – Žigljen crossing takes 15 minutes and runs almost continuously in summer. From Žigljen it is another ten minutes or so by car to the house.
The Pag Bridge in the south of the island avoids the ferry altogether, but adds about an hour of driving along the island. Parking at the house is free.
Zadar Airport is around 80 km away, and Rijeka Airport on the island of Krk somewhat further. A hire car or a transfer is the easiest way to reach us from either.

Yes. Each unit has its own parking space at the house at no extra charge. Air conditioning, the boat mooring and the tourist tax are also included in the price.
You can. There is a mooring beside the house available to guests at no charge, and the bay of Stara Novalja is well sheltered from the wind.
In July and August stays are normally one week, with Saturday as the changeover day. Outside the high season we are happy to arrange shorter stays — just tell us the dates you have in mind.
